Sun Microsystems Appoints Andy Canham President of Canadian Operations

Strong sales experience will drive continued growth for x86, x64 and Solaris in key Canadian markets

Markham, ON - November 7, 2005 - Sun Microsystems, Inc. today announced, effective immediately, the appointment of Andy Canham as President of Sun Microsystems of Canada. Mr. Canham will direct all sales and managerial functions within Sun's Canadian operations, and will report to Sun's Executive Vice President, Global Sales, Robert MacRitchie. Mr. Canham brings more than 20 years of demonstrated sales and operational experience to Sun, having achieved consistent success in leading enterprise software, hardware and services sales teams while overseeing partner and channel strategies at other major technology vendors.

Stéphane Boisvert Promoted to SVP, Global Client Solutions Mr. Canham's predecessor, Stéphane Boisvert, has been appointed Senior Vice President of the Global Client Solutions Organization. Also reporting to Robert MacRitchie, Mr. Boisvert will build upon his established successes in integrating new technologies to drive customer success by leading the continued development of Sun's data management and enterprise application groups within the global sales organization. Mr. Boisvert remains Chairman of Sun Microsystems of Canada Inc.

Andy Canham will build upon Stéphane Boisvert's legacy of growing sales and customer satisfaction, and bring his skills as a developer of new lines of business to bear as Sun increases it's market penetration in key areas including applications deployment software and services.

"Andy brings a tremendous breadth and depth of market experience and repeatedly proven sales strength to Sun; essential qualities for building upon Sun's Canadian successes and for creating new growth opportunities," said Mr. MacRitchie. "Canada is a critical market for Sun, and Andy's hands-on approach to management and ability to mobilize and motivate teams that drive growth will be highly valued at Sun."

Sun's business strategy for Canada is built upon the company's strength as a complete provider of hardware, software and services. The company will continue building on its strength in Java? technology, SPARC® and Sun? x86 servers, and the Solaris? 10 Operating Systems (OS) and OpenSolaris? operating systems. The company will also focus on key systems and solutions including x64 computing and identity management. Canham's track record of successfully integrating post-merger and acquisitions organization is particularly valuable to Sun as it further strengthens its position in data management and enterprise application integration following the acquisitions of StorageTek? and SeeBeyond?.

Mr. Canham holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Toronto. Since then, Andy has held a number of sales and management positions at IBM, Compaq and most recently, was Vice President, Western Canada at Hewlett Packard Canada. He is also Vice Chair of the Board of Governors at Bow Valley College in Calgary, Alberta.
