Students who can benefit from this course are personnel who install software to properly configure servers, configure the servers using software procedures, perform FRU installation and replacement procedures of servers, and troubleshoot issues on the servers. Module 1 - Overview of the Sun Fire V445 Server

• Describe the features of the Sun Fire V445 server
• Compare the Sun Fire V445 server with other Sun servers in the four-way server space

Module 2 - Physical Characteristics of the Sun Fire V445 Server

• Identify and locate the system chassis components and features
• Identify and locate the internal components of the Sun Fire V445 server
• Identify and describe the function of the Sun Fire V445 server LEDs

Module 3 - Sun Fire V445 Server Architectural Overview

• Describe the architectural features of the Sun Fire V445 server
• Describe the physical characteristics of the UltraSPARC IIIi
• CPU/Memory module and its architectural layout
• Describe the physical characteristics of the system I/O, its components, and its architectural layout
• Describe the components that make up the ALOM processor and its architectural features
• Describe the remaining infrastructure boards that fully describe the Sun Fire V445 server

Module 4 - Sun Fire V445 Server Setup

• List the steps required for the initial setup of the Sun Fire V445 server
• Rack-mount the Sun Fire V445 server
• Power-on the ALOM processor
• Power-on and -off the host
• Identify CRUs and FRUs
• Perform CRU and FRU procedures

Module 5 - Configuring the Sun Fire V445 ALOM Processor

• Describe characteristics of the ALOM processor used in the Sun Fire V445 server
• Describe how to configure the ALOM processor network management port
• Describe how to change and view the ALOM processor's configuration parameters
• Manage user accounts and make firmware updates on the ALOM processor
• Access the host through the ALOM processor

Module 6 - Software Utilities for the Sun Fire V445 Server

• Describe how the virtual keyswitch and bootmode settings affect the system boot-up
• Navigate between the system console and the ALOM processor
